World Blend Café op Music Meeting Festival ma 29 mei – aanbieding tickets tm 27 mei!

Maandag 29 mei organiseert WMF er een World Blend Café inclusief panel, pitches plus concert door het Chieko Donker Duyvis Ensemble. “Gelderland levert je mooie streken” zo roept het radiospotje. Ze vergeten dat je er- naast De Apenheul, Het Loo en Hoge Veluwe- vooral muzikale trekpleisters kunt bezoeken. Zoals de Zwarte Cross, Down the Rabbit Hole, de Vierdaagse Feesten èn het Music Meeting Festival. Sinds1985 levert deze Nijmeegse driedaagse je mooie muziekstreken van artiesten die nadien wereldsterren werden.…

Cineblend Café – Césaria Evora documentaire + context programma
Cineblend Café is een terugkerende documentaire avond over culturele diversiteit in de FilmHallen en in Café Belcampo. Deze editie vindt plaats in samenwerking met World Music Forum NL. Na afloop van de vertoning van Cesária Évora is er een nagesprek in het ernaast gelegen Café Belcampo met muziekjournalist Stan Rijven en een mini-concert van de Kaapverdische singer-songwriter Djocy Santos. De documentaire Cesária Évora schetst met archiefbeelden, concertopnamen, interviews en beelden van Kaapverdië een beeld van een vrouw die altijd zichzelf bleef en nooit haar onafhankelijkheid opgaf. Imagine: your (grand)-parents descend from Cape Verde, Chili, Curaçao, Ghana, Indonesia, Suriname; countries the Netherlands was connected to for all sorts of reasons. Imagine: You want to continue their musical heritage, adding to more specific reasons. July 1 2023: at Keti Koti (the chain is cut) 150 years of abolition of slavery in Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles will be commemorated. 2024: opening of the first Migration Museum in the Netherlands. Both moments mark the need to look back- & forward while opening new perspectives. After all, the diaspora of musical DNA plays a crucial role in the reconstruction of migration processes.
