From innovation to tradition, acoustic to electronic, inclusive of all sectors and expertise, we welcome and encourage proposals representing the entire world music scene, independent of gender identity, region or background.

In other news we’re heading back to Austin, Texas for SXSW and have announced the lineup for WOMEX Night at SXSW. As well as returning to CPH:DOX in Copenhagen to present two films as part of the International Documentary Film Festival. Read on for more information.

WOMEX Supports Gender Equality and Diversity

WOMEX has always supported diversity and equality in all its forms. Our Call for Proposals is currently open and we encourage all identifying women to propose as we encourage all people of all backgrounds and gender. With this in mind, we would like to share with you the following detailed figures about our own processes and statistics for WOMEX, alongside some initiatives as positive examples in the fight for cultural diversity and improved gender balance, that from the start has been a driving force for the global WOMEX community.

WOMEX Night at SXSW 

Heading to SXSW? We’ve just announced the lineup for this year’s  WOMEX Night at Flamingo Cantina on Thursday, 15 March.   
Presenting seven diverse acts from around the globe get the set times and more information and lineup up below.

WOMEX at CPH:DOX 2018

In more on the road news, we’ll be back at CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. Showcasing  the best and brightest in contemporary non-fiction, art cinema and experimental film, WOMEX will be co-presenting two music documentaries in Copenhagen this year:
The Stranger Sound of Happiness and Looking for Oum Kulthum.
Also featured as part of the official programme, is Ethiopiques, which saw its market screening at WOMEX in Katowice last year.
