Het culturele seizoen is weer van start!
Op maandag 19 september vindt het eerstvolgende World Blend Café plaats tussen het groen in de tuin van de Amsterdamse Tolhuistuin.

Behalve een update over de laatste ontwikkelingen in de scene – extra aandacht voor beurs-ervaringen en tips van een aantal cracks – in het bijzonder over de aankomende muziekbeurs  WOMEX  in Lissabon (19-23 oktober). Daarnaast dit keer extra veel live muziek met drie bijzondere showcases, pitches, buffet en natuurlijk ruim gelegenheid om bij te praten met collega’s

Showcases 

 

Nawras Altaky (stem, ud, composinist) met Sjahin During (perscussie)
De in Utrecht wonende Syrische componist Nawras Altaky verbindt in zijn werk verschillende muzikale culturen, zoals Arabische- en Westerse muziek. Zijn muziek biedt een virtuoze versmelting van hedendaagse en moderne composities doordrongen van Arabische melodieën, met de vrijheid van jazz harmonieën en de kracht van het klassieke contrapunt.

 

 

 

Chieko Donker Duyvis (cello/zang/componist) met Theo de Blasis (gitaar)
Chieko Donker Duyvis is Amsterdamse celliste met Braziliaans/Japanse roots. Zij creëert een eigenzinnige klankwereld geïnspireerd op klassieke muziek, vrije improvisatie en Latijns Amerikaanse muziek.

 

 

 

 

 

Duo Beshno: Hamid Reza Behzadian (slide gitaar) en Cengiz Arslanpay (ney/stem)
Sinds mei 2022 vormen deze unieke Utrechtse muzikanten Duo Beshno. Beiden bespelen uiteenlopende instrumenten die ze met groot gemak zowel in traditionele- als in eigentijdse stijl inzetten. Hun nieuwe composities en arrangementen zijn gebaseerd op bestaande volksmelodieën uit de klassieke Perzische en Turkse muziek.

Daarnaast is uitgebreid gelegenheid om te netwerken met collega’s en is het mogelijk om deel te nemen aan het buffet (om 19.00)

The cultural season has started again!

On Monday 19 September, the next World Blend Café will take place in the garden of Amsterdam’s Tolhuistuin.

Besides an update on the latest developments in the scene and the cultural field – this time with extra attention for fair experiences and tips from some cracks – especially about the upcoming music fair WOMEX in Lisbon (19-23 October).

3 Mini-Showcases: 

• Nawras Altaky (voice, ud, composer) with Sjahin During (percussion)
  Syrian composer Nawras Altaky, who lives in Utrecht, connects different musical cultures in his work, such as Arabic and Western music. His music offers a virtuoso fusion of contemporary and modern compositions infused with Arabic melodies, with the freedom of jazz harmonies and the power of classical counterpoint.
• Chieko Donker Duyvis (cello/vocal/composer) with Theo de Blasis (guitar)
   Chieko is an Amsterdam cellist with Brazilian/Japanese roots who creates a unique sound world inspired by classical music, free improvisation and Latin American music. 
• Duo Beshno
  Hamid Reza Behzadian (slide guitar) and Cengiz Arslanpay (ney/voice)
  Since May 2022, these unique Utrecht musicians have formed Duo Beshno. Both play a variety of instruments that they use with great ease in both traditional and contemporary styles. Their new compositions and arrangements are based on existing folk melodies from classical Persian and Turkish music.
