We are halfway through 2020 and still exploring the new normal and all that it brings. Some days, challenging. Other days, bright. It varies from day-to-day. Amongst all these wavering emotions and uncertainties, however, one thing remains constant: our enthusiasm for realising WOMEX this October in Budapest, Hungary.

“Why?” you might ask.

Because our mindset is to make the best out of this challenging situation. We believe that it’s our mission to serve, help, and bring as many of our global music community together as possible. It is essential for the cultural sector and an existential necessity for artists and the music business operators that we continue to provide our platform. Despite the drastic changes that our working field is experiencing, we face the challenges head-on and continue to move forward. Travel is compromised, health and safety measures need special attention, and numerous questions remain unanswered. Yet, we push towards making WOMEX 20 happen, exploring and learning along the way, to develop solutions that act as bridges and best serve the members of our community. Either way, WOMEX once again will celebrate creativity and musical diversity on stage.

We want to take this opportunity to share the Jury’s choices with you right now. Together with this year’s local partner Hangvető, WOMEX is committed to providing visibility to the Jury-selected artists, including those who may be unable to attend in person this year. The final lineup may still change, but we are working with our Jury’s full selection to bring you a great and balanced programme live on stage.
