The COVID-19 pandemic has a broad range of disproportionate and adverse impacts upon minorities and other groups, with some groups suffering death rates several times higher than others during the pandemic. Join us on Zoom for a peer-to-peer conversation regarding the actionable steps and narratives of resilience related to the COVID-19 pandemic, art, and protest related to the fight for civil and human rights. This webinar will focus on the intersections between art, dance, and protest in Black, Afro-Latinx, Latinx, Caribbean and Roma communities in the United States. The webinar aims to examine the nexus between visual, performing, and other arts, tangible and intangible cultural production, human rights of minority communities, and the evolving impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on these.

This webinar will:
● Provide actionable steps and multinational, multi-lateral conversations that lead to a deeper understanding of topics.
● Share ways people can empower themselves and their communities due to the social, health, and economic consequences of COVID-19 to diverse communities.
● Help advance dance and music as universal languages in discussions about human rights.
● Amplify minority and artistic voices on OHCHR social media and online platforms.
● Advance peer-to-peer approaches to strengthening human rights, including in contexts of structural or systemic discrimination, stigma, and exclusion.

The event will take place in English, with Spanish and sign language interpretation provided. A recording of the webinar will be made public.
