Launched on April 1 by the people behind Oslo World – the Norwegian capital’s annual music bash – maptheworld.no is a virtual guide to big and small festivals around the planet, with a playlist of 20 songs for each provided by the local programmers.

As well as a tool for exploring and listening, the map is a reminder of the way festivals, in addition to being places where people meet to have a good time, represent different views and music philosophies, each and every one contributing to a vibrant and pluralistic global music scene. More
