This year’s Mundial Montréal, North America’s World Music Summit, takes place online on 23 & 24 November 2020. We’re excited to share a preview of the Netherlands-based artists and groups that will be showcased at next year’s edition.
Mundial Montréal operates as a springboard for some of the best world music talent emerging from Canada and beyond, and has a highly developed network of international presenters. With a thoughtfully curated program of artists, networking activities and inspiring conversation, Mundial Montréal has established itself as the go-to event in North America for world music discovery and professional opportunities.

On 23 & 24 November the online event will celebrate Canada’s rich cultural diversity through a variety of showcases and venues, and host some of North America’s most sought-after programmers and tastemakers to participate in networking events, panels and meetings.

Dutch music showcased at Mundial Montréal 2021

The two Netherlands-based artists and groups originally scheduled to perform at this year’s showcase had to be postponed due to COVID-19. Instead, they will be showcased at the 2021 edition of Mundial Montréal:

Mehmet Polat – ud player, composer, ensemble leader and soloist

Showcasing: Mehmet Polat Quintet

Boi Akih – world music duo consisting of guitarist and composer Niels Brouwer and vocalist Monica Akihary

Showcasing: Storyteller, a quartet consisting of Monica Akihary, Niels Brouwer, Sekou Dioubate and Dodó Kis
